INTRODUCTION

As companies grow and decide to compete internationally, they must formulate global information technology plans to manage their worldwide expansion. Many companies decide to outsource some of these IT projects overseas to gain competitive advantages. Lee and Mary’s Gourmet Ice Cream is a business in the middle of planning for a major global expansion. (See the attachment “Five-Year IT Global Strategic Plan.”) To facilitate this expansion, the company’s IT systems will need to undergo a major upgrade.

You have been hired as the IT consultant by the CEO of Lee and Mary’s Gourmet Ice Cream to recommend changes to the five-year IT globalization plan for the company. The CEO provided you with a version of the plan that focuses on the company expanding its business and technology into the international markets of Great Britain and Western Europe. Unfortunately, the organization’s chief information officer (CIO) just left the company for personal reasons, which leaves the company with some decisions still to make in regard to its technology infrastructures, processes, and systems to support the expansion. You were told that there is $20,000,000 available to improve technology systems and processes to meet expanded business goals. You are being asked to adopt the role of the recently departed CIO and to recommend updates to the existing plan. Your task is to evaluate the current five-year plan, research technological solutions, work with existing stakeholders, and then recommend changes to the “Activities” section of five of the plan targets.

REQUIREMENTS

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. IV

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to begin drafting your academic argumentative research paper and to present a references page with at least three sources.

Description: In this assignment, you will begin actually drafting your paper, beginning with the Introduction paragraph that introduces your reader to the topic, controversy, and your main argument. Next, you will provide a Literature Review to inform your reader of the information and arguments on both sides of the issue based on the information from your source materials. Finally, you will develop a References page with at least three academically credible sources cited in proper APA Style.

Introduction(roughly150 to200words):

For more details about what is expected for each of the following sentences, please see Lesson 4: “The Introduction.” You may also want to review the “Example Introduction and Literature Review (with comments).” The following components must be included in the introduction (in the following order):

  • Sentence 1: Introduce the general topic
  • Sentence 2: Narrow the scope
  • Sentence 3: Specific controversy
  • Sentence 4: Pro side
  • Sentence 5: Con side
  • Sentence 6: The thesis

Literature Review (roughly500words):

The Literature Review is made up of three paragraphs that provide information about the topic and the relevant arguments/debates about each side of the issue. It is important that your reader has this information so that they are adequately informed about the topic and able to follow the argument that you will support later in the paper. Imagine that you walk up to two friends having a debate about an issue that is unfamiliar to you. In order to follow the conversation, you would need to know what the issue is and the nature of the debate and what one friend thinks is true or correct about the issue versus what the other friend thinks is true or correct about the issue. Once you have this information, you will be able to follow the conversation much more clearly.

  • Begin the Literature Review with a short “History of the Issue” paragraph that details any relevant background issue about your chosen topic. This might include discipline-specific terms, any recent laws or policy changes related to the issue, information about groups invested in the issue, and such.
  • Next, you will include one paragraph describing the arguments on either side of the issue. Think of the points you came up with in the T-chart for the Unit I Discussion Board post, and write a paragraph detailing the points in the For/Pro column and one paragraph detailing the points in the Against/Con column.
  • All paragraphs in the Literature Review should be fully engaged with your source materials. You are not making your own arguments in this section; rather, you are presenting information about the issue objectively (without bias). Thus, all paragraphs in the Literature Review should be fully engaged with your source materials and cited throughout using APA Style in-text citations to indicate any instances of paraphrased or directly quoted information. Please see the In-Text Citations: The Basics tutorial for more specific information about proper use and format of in-text citations.

References Page: The references page for this assignment needs to cite at least three credible sources that you have used within your paper. Please see the following APA Style References tutorial for more information and examples.

***NOTE****

TOPIC BELOW

For my research topic, I have chosen to write about medicine and its usage. The controversies faced in this field is that holistic doctors believe that medicine is used as a tool to gain a profit and not correct the deficiency. I believe that this is beneficial for all of us because on some level we all have been prescribed medicine. The medicine may treat one issue but may cause additional side effects. There are research topics that discuss the pros and cons of both, but my concern is finding the resolution to the problem. I’d rather not take medicine that only temporarily subsides the issue but fix what’s wrong. I do believe there is some truth to it as every time I go to the doctor they prescribe a new medication, sometimes without evaluating the issue.

The Synthesis Of Music And Dance

The Synthesis of Music and Dance

Scenario: You will be teaching a series of dance classes at the local community center. In order to appeal to as many students as possible, you want to incorporate various types of dances and music in your classes from a variety of times, places, and cultures. You also want to get a better understanding of how music and dance complement one another so that you can make appropriate music selections for the dances you will be teaching.
